The longest road ain't for the faint of heart
Devin McDermott
The journey never ends.
Truth is, if you dedicate yourself to personal growth, there will always be another frontier.
Another battle to fight.
Another problem to solve.
Another demon to be slain.
And you know what?
We shouldn't shrink from that reality.
What other option do we have, really?
To just be complacent and accept whatever flows our way?
To simply accept the problems we have as inevitable and not really grow?
To consider the work we've already done "good enough" and stop pushing to become better?
To live quiet lives of mediocrity where we know we aren't operating at the edge of what we're capable of?
That sounds like misery to me.
I'd choose the pain of growth over the pain of staying the same 1000 times over.
... even if the goal posts are always moving.
Because, yes, the journey never ends.
But certain chapters can.
That chapter where you're struggling back and forth, going a couple weeks clean just to relapse and start over again? You can close that chapter, take back that time and energy that's been wasted, and start using it to fight other, higher level, more important battles instead.
