Are you flippin' serious

I once had a client who was SUPER into fitness.

I'm talkin' like... top 0.1% of physiques type fitness. Dude was absolutely jacked, in a high-powered position at work, and just brimming with kingly energy. Well, except for the underperforming bedroom shit that was plaguing him half the time he tried to make the magic happen. But that's not what I'm here to share in this one.

There was a dynamic I found hilarious as we worked together.

He was constantly drawing analogies between what he'd learned in his fitness journey, and the work we were doing together to help him quit porn and heal his brain so his bedroom activities would start going more smoothly again.

And one of the most important is a powerful lesson worth sharing:

He realized that quitting porn and maintaining control over his sexual energy was one of the big "buckets" in his life. That it wasn't just a side mission, but rather it required and deserved a portion of his attention and dedication... just like the other big "buckets" of business, relationships, and yes, fitness. It was obvious to him for many years that fitness required learning, maintenance, and effort...

Same with his career.

He didn't get there by accident.

But he'd never put even a small fraction of that kind of effort into sexual self control.

And given how porn is always 2 seconds away and is highly addictive, it's no surprise that half-assed effort wasn't quite enough to squash it.

So when we started working together and gave the problem the attention it deserved?

Well, here's a small chunk of what he said:

"This process has helped me almost instantly kick porn with ease, truly understand and acknowledge the damage it does, and re-allocate that energy into my kids, my work, and my other pursuits."

... which made me incredibly happy, given we were working on a 20+ year habit for him, and he literally quit from day 1 and never looked back.

Anyways, I digress.

The lesson here is simple.

If you're still struggling, be it with porn or any other compulsive behavior...

Ask yourself if you're really giving it the attention it deserves. Are you really treating it as a major endeavor that's deeply important, or do you have one foot in and one foot out?

Give it your full attention and things will go a lot better.

No doubt about it.

And just to bring it full circle? The guy I mentioned above has been clean for almost 3 years, and that underperformance issue has been totally fixed since a few months in. He's simply moved on with his life... which is the main goal of quitting, in my opinion!
