Ultra-prideful samurai forced to accept help from strangers

I've been reading a series over the past year or so.

(Slight spoilers for the Emberverse ahead, but I'll keep it vague.)

And the point I'm at, the main protagonist has been joined by a bunch of Samurai on a mission in a foreign land. Samurai who have had a rough go of things, and who are essentially forced into taking aid from these foreigners so they could continue (and hopefully complete) their mission.

And they fugkin' hate it.

But in that subtle, martial-art-disciplined sort of way that barely shows it.

Yet it's plain to those observing them more closely… that they resent needing foreign help to recover what they're looking to recover.

… double yet, they also have the wisdom to recognize they need that help, and therefore they accept it. And while I'm not quite there yet, if I had to guess where the story is going, I have a feeling that's going to work out quite well for them.

Which, incidentally, reminds me of a lot of the guys I've helped quit porn.

For example:

Take one of my previous Exec clients, who we'll refer to as "A."

High-powered guy. Absolutely jacked, physically elite in, and with a career to match it. Successful in some major ways. Yet, his marriage had ended and had been on the rocks for years before that. A had been struggling with his manhood and "keeping it up." And despite his earnest best intentions to quit, nothing he was doing was working.

So he, eventually, was almost forced to swallow some pride and accept that he needed help.

Which tasted like vinegar.

Not something a guy in his position does lightly.

Yet, he needed it.

Because he needed to recover the confidence that was being lost, so he could move on into healthier and happier relations with women again.

And while that initial acceptance of needing help tasted terrible…

What happened next was and continues to be sweet:

"A" quit almost 2 years ago!

Completely recovered his bedroom "manhood," started dating again, and has been having an awesome time. Those old problems don't even cross his mind anymore. And he's so much happier in this zero-porn lifestyle that he doesn't even think about going back to it, either. He's never looked back.

Was it worth accepting foreign aid?

Well, imagine what would've been happening if he hadn't.

I'll let you be the judge.
