Hidden Dangers of the Age of Information

Hidden Dangers of the Age of Information

We're going through a massive, worldwide shift.

One era is ending and one is being born.

Back in the 1800's, the Industrial Revolution was taking a place.

A time of unprecedented technological advancement, production of goods, and interconnectedness of societies and trade routes that changed the face of our society permanently. Many awesome gifts came from that time, many of which fruits we still enjoy on a day-to-day basis.

And yet, it wasn't all good.

With that growth came some major down-sides.

Just to give a couple examples, the workplaces often weren't safe or sanitary at, so people were getting injured and falling ill frequently.

Workers were often exposed to toxic chemicals that had a terrible effect on their long-term health.

Corruption started flourishing at a higher level than ever.

But so it goes - that's the Yin and Yang of the universe at play. And fortunately, over time, people recognized what was happening and put safeguards in place. Worker safety laws, banning certain practices and chemicals, investigative organizations creating checks and balances...

But these days it's happening again.

Except the Industrial Revolution is ending, and we've entered into the Age of Information.

And with that come many awesome gifts as well.

For example:

I get to influence people around the world for the better through my work because of the internet creating leverage. And I'm still a small fish. Imagine what some of the world's most influential personalities in history, like Mahatma Gandhi (NOT that I'm comparing myself to him, I'm not), could have done with the internet? They influenced so many lives without it that it's pretty mind-boggling to consider.

Yet, it's not all good.

We have more technology, more information at our fingertips, more highly stimulating and easily accessible vices and pleasures than ever before.

And there are dangers there that people aren't very aware of, or are slowly becoming aware of, just like the dangers that were there in the original Industrial Revolution.

And don't take this the wrong way - this technology IS incredible. Yet we need to tread somewhat carefully. Because while it's a tool that can be used for a lot of good, it's also potentially a weapon that can cause a lot of harm. Take, for example, the mother or father who's so absorbed by social media, YouTube, and video games that they aren't being present with their own family and children.

Or, worse, who allow social media and YouTube to raise their children FOR them by putting a tablet in their hands at the age of 7 because it's easy... despite the very many degenerate influences across the internet that kids can and do stumble into extremely easily.

We're more "connected" than we've ever been, and yet that "interconnectedness" often leaves people less connected than ever to the real world and the real people around them.

Or, another example:

Pornography is still misunderstood and understated.

Like the modern man's cigarette, where once upon a time everyone did it until people realized how much smoking increases mortality, lung cancer, etc...

"Everyone does it" with porn these days too (which isn't actually true, but it IS very common...)

But the dark truth is that modern high-speed internet porn is essentially a digital drug that affects the brain in most of the same ways as physical drugs like cocaine or heroin - except this is way easier to navigate to than some shady dealer on the street, and doesn't require you to open up your wallet either.

Further, it hijacks a deep and hard-coded male biological prerogative: to "spread our seed."

Present the male brain with what it perceives to be infinite gorgeous, willing partners and his brain can't help but to make that activity a very high priority. Often regardless of the consequences to his real relationships, wives and girlfriends being robbed of the attention and dedication they deserve.

It's all a little whacky.

But it doesn't have to be that way.

There's a higher road.

I'm living it, and my mission is to help other men live it too.

A zero-porn lifestyle is infinitely more satisfying than the way I used to live, and once you fully realize the consequences of this particular vice and experience how much better you feel without it you'll never want to go back to it either.

But it can be tricky, because of the way it hijacks a primal part of the male brain like I described above.

Which is why getting help is a very wise move.

I wouldn't have been able to do it alone. I needed to dig deep and find the humility to reach out when things weren't working.

And I encourage you to do the same when you're ready.
