Creepy childhood friend does the unthinkable
Devin McDermott
I just learned about something crazy.
There's a kid I used to know who, earlier on in our years, was normal enough.
But something, somewhere, seems to have gone wrong.
Horribly wrong.
... because he really went to the dark side.
What's crazy is that he was the first one to show me and several other people I know porn.
Kinda like the neighborhood "bad influence."
Prior to that moment, I'd been relatively innocent... but, of course, you're probably familiar with my story and the general story of what happens from that point. Went back to search for more, and more, and more over the years to come.
Anyways, that's not the point of this story.
Over the years, this kid developed an increasingly creepy energy.
Started asking people for "photos."
Just seemed to be generally lacking some social awareness and s*xual boundaries.
Well, imagine my surprise when several years later, one of my childhood friends sends me an article of this guy having been arrested for diddling kids on the baseball team he was coaching. What the flying f**k? We knew he was creepy, but that's a much lower level than any of us would have thought possible.
Sad to see for everyone involved.
And knowing what I know these days I can't help but wonder if, if he'd had better knowledge and support and not been consuming so much porn, if he would have avoided that kind of deviancy and literally ruining his entire life (and others' too...)
While most guys never get to that point of doing illegal, horrendous things, I can see how porn is perhaps part of what happened with this guy.
Because of the progressive need for ever-greater stimulation that pornography creates, guys often start crossing their own personal moral/ethical lines into content that once would have been out of the question for them. I've seen straight guys questioning their sexuality because they're watching non-straight stuff, and guys who aren't really the BDSM type getting into some darker shit, for example. And it's not natural.
By not natural, I mean:
That's not aligned with their natural tastes.
It's not who they actually are.
But it IS a natural result of the never-ending search for the next level of novelty, of pushing further down that road of always needing newer, stronger, more novel stimulation to feel something.
Is that the case for this childhood acquaintance?
Who knows.
Maybe he was actually just a bad apple at the core. Those exist.
Guess it doesn't really matter, because his ship has already completely and irreversibly sailed.
Anyways, for most guys, this is important to understand because even if they've developed all sorts of "special interests" and aren't really turned on by normal stuff anymore, that's not truly who they are, and it can be reversed by simply quitting porn and letting your brain heal.
Why would someone want to reverse it when they're enjoying it, even if perverse?
The answer is simple:
To enjoy the real world more.
To enjoy the pleasure of a real woman in a natural setting without needing all sorts of craziness just to feel something. To embrace that more fully and naturally, and have deeper more fulfilling relations in the real world.
It's awesome.
And just one of many, many good reasons to quit.
