Why are you here?
Devin McDermott
I believe I have an answer to this.
Because you know you're called to a higher level.
You have this feeling inside that you haven't been showing up the way you want to be, the way that you know you can, deep down.
Perhaps you already have a lot of awesome things happening, too. Good job, good health, perhaps even marriage and a family and kids who are healthy and happy. And yet something feels like it's missing. Something isn't quite "clicking." Energy is low, fulfillment is lackluster, life's lost that sense of zest and excitement, and you feel like there must be something better, somehow, some way. But aren't quite sure what the missing piece is.
Well, here's something I've noticed:
Even high-integrity men who have been working on themselves for years often end up downplaying the importance of pornography, and its detrimental effects, in their lives. I hear it constantly. How maybe porn is part of the picture, but it's not really a huge issue compared to XYZ other things going on in their lives.
And heck, they have a point because it is most certainly not the whole picture.
Yet these kinds of men are working with faulty perception. They're down in the forest, looking at individual trees, and aren't able to see the entire landscape from a birds-eye view. That birds-eye view comes from experience, from having quit porn, or from someone like me who's been there and can share the perspective.
Which is why I'm writing this message.
Because I want you to understand that whatever problems you may be facing... whether it's in your career, your business, your family, or your health... that porn is truly a bigger problem than most of the other things - you know, as long as you're not going to struggle to put food on the table next week.
The reason why is simple:
Because the damage porn does to your brain fundamentally destabilizes your neurochemistry, crippling your ability to think and decide clearly, be emotionally stable, tap into your masculine potential, and maintain the drive necessary to actually make massive progress on the other problems you're facing.
The way it damages your brain, and especially the Frontal Cortex, is literally the same sort of effect as doing cocaine.
We find it easy to accept that if someone was doing cocaine even once each week, that it would be having a huge net-negative effect in their lifestyle. Well this is what the world hasn't caught up to yet. Porn is literally like digital cocaine, except it's even EASIER and CHEAPER to get.
Of course it has massive negative effects.
The good news?
Neuroplasticity.
Your brain can and will repair itself, and return to its baseline health, when you simply remove the overstimulating influence of pornography and keep it that way.
Simple on paper, harder in reality.
Especially that last part, because anyone can quit for a little while, but what really separates the guys who deeply transform their lives from those who just experience some benefit but it ain't super awesome, is the ability to maintain that change long-term.
Which is where I come in for guys who are deeply serious about their growth, about removing this crap so they can move on into a different chapter where they're crushing their problems, honoring their values, and progressively realizing their higher ambitions.
