Turning darkness into light

Turning darkness into light

Ahhh, yes... transmutation.

The ancient goal of the alchemists seeking to turn various substances into gold.

And while most of us would consider that incredibly silly... in a not-so-physical sense, transmutation is an incredibly powerful concept.

You can learn how to take ordinary, uncomfortable, painful, challenging experiences and transmute them into gold. Or you can let those experiences blow up in your face, weaken your resolve, and knock you down a few levels. But the wisest men I've ever known maintain a healthy appreciation for the fact that even the most challenging things we face are laced with lessons and wisdom that are just waiting to be mined. And I love that.

So if you're going through a challenging time, remember this:

Life is trying to teach you something.

Dig deeper.

Find the lesson.

Add it to your reservoir of hard-earned wisdom.

And use that that wisdom to adjust your actions and create a better future for yourself.

Which, incidentally, is one of the most important things you can do when you're trying to quit some sort of compulsive behavior, whether it's cigarettes or booze or pornography. By their very nature, these sorts of things are addictive, and therefore stopping them can be quite challenging at times. You may slip up, or even temporarily fail. But if that happens, the only real failure is not learning from it, not getting back on the horse, and succumbing to a lower existence than what you know you're rightfully capable of.

If you dig in, reflect, observe, learn, and adjust?

Congrats.

You transmute that pain and disappointment into wisdom that you get to carry forward with you into your future and every decision you make going forward.

... and if you're tired of the challenge of quitting porn on your own, well, it simply doesn't have to be so hard. When you have the right system and support to lean on, it becomes so much easier that you can lock in a long-term lifestyle change in just a couple months of consistent (but not overwhelming) effort.
