The subtle art of information selection
Devin McDermott
As I spoke with one of the guys I'm helping 1-on-1 yesterday, the topic of information overload came up.
He has a loooong list of books from various people who have each told him about something he "should" read for one reason or another.
And I related to that, big time.
I have dozens of such books on my Kindle, too.
Many of them untouched.
Not because I don't think the information would be valuable.
But because in the modern world, accessing information is no longer an issue.
Back in the day, information was scarce. These days it's so abundant that we're actually overloaded by it every day of our lives, which is where the subtle art of information selection comes in.
It's a skill to be able to focus in on the right information for where you're at currently... and leave the rest on the sidelines.
A skill I've been practicing for a number of years.
Which is why those books are untouched.
They're good to have there at the ready, for when the time is right, but until that time they aren't even on my "to-do" list.
I don't need them taking up my mental bandwidth.
And I very much recommend taking this approach.

Discover why porn blockers alone aren't enough and what real recovery requires for lasting change.
Incidentally, this applies with a porn habit too.
What I mean is that the world will give you 69 different bits of advice to help you improve your energy, mental clarity, focus, drive, and intimate relationships.
And that advice may be helpful.
But if porn has still been part of your lifestyle, well, that one habit will undermine all the other changes you might make to such a degree that it almost doesn't even make sense to focus on the other stuff yet. Instead, it's worth making quitting porn successfully, and developing the supporting habits and lifestyle changes necessary to ensure that change is sustained over time, an absolute central focus... and letting everything else stay on the sidelines for a little while.
Because there's a cool dynamic hidden in the reality of just how corrosive pornography is to the things a man cares about the most.
Which is that on the flip-side, the removal of pornography has such an amplifying effect that you'll naturally feel every area of your life improve when you quit.
And if you think I'm exaggerating, I understand.
But I'm truly not, and when you too have fully removed porn from your lifestyle you'll see exactly what I mean.
It's impossible to see the whole forest when you're tumbling in the weeds.
But hindsight is 20/20, and I for one wish I'd managed to quit sooner, because there genuinely is not a single part of my lifestyle that hasn't improved in the wake of quitting.
So that's the lesson here:
Make quitting a central focus and you won't regret it.
And when you're ready to stop spinning your wheels trying to figure your own way out of the relapse cycle, I'm here to help.
I've spent years helping men quit porn for good through a personalized, 60-day system—no blockers, no gimmicks, and without relying on willpower—so they can finally reclaim their confidence and intimacy.
